I hope you are all having a fabulous 4th of July! Mine started at 4:45 AM….and we did great! Tonya and I finished the Peachtree Road Race in 1 hour an 11 minutes. Yay! Congrats to Kathy, Kristi, Cindy, Michelle C & Michelle D - you guys all did great! It was super fun, really crowded (55,000 people) and very hilly! Here is our shirt….

My weekend started off great! I had some girlfriends over Friday night for some Disney Sorry and a little Uno action. Woke up Saturday morning and met Tonya for a run…we surprised ourselves and took a new route that ended up being over 6 miles! We were very proud of ourselves for completing a 10K. Now we feel super ready for the Peachtree Roadrace this Friday. Saturday night we attended a painting class at Swirls Art Studio. The concept is the same as Sips n Strokes. An instructor leads you step by step through a particular painting and in the end you have your very own masterpiece. You get to bring snacks and your beverage of choice to nosh on while you find your inner artist. We decided to get some funky beers. Of course I was packing the cherry beer but my girlfriend also picked up some Michelob Ultra fruit infused flavor. We had the Pomegranate Raspberry and it was yummy! The class was great, you really learn a lot about how a painting is done. I do have to brag and tell you that the instructor told me that I painted in the same style as Salvador Dali. Here is the painting that we attempted…
Now for the bad…..I woke up in the middle of the night Saturday with a wicked sore throat and a fever. In the morning my glands were giant! Uhhh! I spent Sunday on the couch feeling pretty poor. Riley took great care of me by making sure all of my nutritional needs were met. She made me oatmeal, soup, grilled cheese, and macaroni. Both of the girls cleaned the kitchen up for me. They are awesome! So everybody think good thoughts, put me in your prayers….I have to get better soon - I want to feel great for the race on Friday.
Summer TV is very odd. Weird shows emerge. Have you watched anything new that you would recommend? I have been trying to sneak and watch my TIVOed Swingtown episodes. It probably wouldn’t be great Fall TV watching but my Summer TV standards can be quite low. And yes, I have to make very certain that there are no kids in the vicinity before I hit PLAY. The show is set in the 1970’s (which can be very groovy to watch) and follows a set of “swinging” neighbors. I don’t mean the type of people that enjoy swingsets. Yeah, that kind of swinging! BTW…Grant Show is one of the stars of the show (remember him from Melrose?).
I was super excited to learn that The Mole was back - and disappointed to find out that Anderson Cooper (the CNN hottie) was not going to be hosting it. Anyway, it has been a fun one to watch. Riley, Madison and myself are nowhere near guessing who the mole actually is.
Okay…then we have the really weird shows that I have yet to catch…Wipeout, I Survived a Japanese Game Show, and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
And then there is Big Brother! My all time favorite Summer Guilty pleasure returns on July 13th and will air on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays…whoot-whoot! The rumor mill says that they will be bringing back some of the old cast members. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Janie is back
