Have you heard about the new crayon colors from Crayola to mark their 50th anniversary? They have added eight emotionally colored hues to the 64 count box. The new colors added are Giving Tree, Famous, Fun in the Sun, Happy Ever After, Awesome, Bear Hug, Super Happy, and Best Friends. They came up with the colors by polling 20,000 kids online. They asked them what they value and what makes them happy, then had them associate their feelings with colors. I think they are a little weird. Why is turquoise called Happy Ever After? And how did awesome become the name for orange? What color do you think Best Friends is? But in the end it is all in good fun…we don’t really expect our kids to say that they want to wear their bear hug colored shirt today. Crayola starting getting very creative with the names back in the 80’s and 90’s. I remember the first time I saw the Macaroni and Cheese crayon….it looks just like Kraft Macaroni & Cheese! Another favorite is Inchworm - it is a nice bright green color. What is your favorite crayon color? Are you a traditional Burt Sienna or Cornflower…or do you like to walk on the wild side with Purple Mountain’s Majesty or Manatee?
