Sips n Strokes April 24, 2008

Filed under: shopping — katyshops @ 4:16 am

A big thank you to my friend Jill for telling me about this amazing place! Sips n Strokes is an art studio where you bring your own beverage (whatever will get your creative juices flowing) to the studio where you participate in a group art class to create your own painting. They walk you through every step of the painting and at the end of the night you can take your masterpiece home to hang on your wall! What a great girls night out! The cost of each class is $25 Mon-Wed, $30 Thursday, $35 Friday, and $40 on Saturday. You can watch a little video of the class on their website. I’m calling a mandatory girls night - who’s in? Look at some of the paintings you can do…

Earth Day…how are you celebrating?  Why not visit Captain Planet Foundation?  You can download stickers, screen savers, coloring pages and more.  You can also use this site to teach your child about how they can help the environment.  The mission statement for Captain Planet Foundation is:

to fund and support hands-on, environmental projects for children and youths. Our objective is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Through environmental education, we believe that children can achieve a better understanding and appreciation for the world in which they live.

Pretty powerful stuff!  You can also show your support for the environment by visiting their store.  I love the tees!

They also have rings, water bottles, action figures & more! Teach your kids use their super powers to save the environment!  What a great site!

I guess I have a fascination with stickers lately.  I think it all started with my car monogram and then heightened with Uppercase Living.  Check out these window stickers!  They come in 6 different frosty patterns.

6 Months…. April 18, 2008

Filed under: shopping — katyshops @ 8:22 pm

Did you know that Halloween is only about 6 months from now? I bet it isn’t even on your radar! How about trying to think ahead and be the early bird that gets the worm? Better yet, plan an awesome, gruesome Halloween party! In Costume has a great selection to choose from. They even have a section called Leg Avenue Halloween Costumes . These are special costumes for the ladies that show lots of leg :) I kinda like the pirate! Now I just need to find my Johnny Depp!

I wonder what will be the “hot” costume of the year? Probably something political with the election and all. They have lots of different types of costumes - couples, group, teen, religious, historical…and a bunch more! Have you ever considered being a martini?

How about a giant Tinky Winky?

Seriously…start thinking about it. I always wait until the last minute and wish I would have thought about it sooner!

Seriously Stressed! April 18, 2008

Filed under: shopping, useless information — katyshops @ 5:07 am

I’m having a mild panic attack over my plans for tomorrow! 8:00 AM soccer & team pictures, 11-5 Big Shanty Festival (volunteering), and 7 PM Uppercase Living party at my house!! Okay, Okay…I know it’s not awful…but when am I supposed to cook for my party?? And what happens if while I am gone all day on Saturday and come home to a messy house? Cook for my party…I haven’t even planned the menu yet!! Yikes! Any suggestions? I do think I will crack open my little bottle of roll on stress relief aromatherapy. I got it with my free coupon last week :) I sure hope it works!

I just found out that Ebates is offering a double sign up bonus!!  That means you get $10 for signing up and making your first purchase :)  Here are some ideas…

Go through Ebates to Magazine.com…they will give you 25% back on your subscription.  Usually you will come out ahead - for example…Family Fun that is $9.97 for 10 issues. If you take into account the 25% cash back that goes directly in your Ebates account, you’ll end up paying around $7.50 for this offer PLUS get your $10 sign-up bonus.

I have really liked using Ebates..you get great deals (with lots of coupon codes) and cash back for every purchase you make!!

Who is Joy Gryson? April 17, 2008

Filed under: shopping — katyshops @ 5:07 am

Have you heard all of the buzz about Joy Gryson’s handbag line at Target?  Apparently she is an ultra talented handbag designer who has worked for Coach, Marc Jacobs, and other high end companies.  Thankfully Target has noticed her and brought her to us.  I checked them out…and they are really cute.  They are not very expensive - starting at just $19.99.  They are faux leather (ie pleather) and come in lots of different colors and styles.  Take a look at a few…..

The big thank you! April 15, 2008

Filed under: shopping — katyshops @ 3:57 pm

I love stationary. Don’t get me wrong….email is great…but I still love stationary! Riley writes the best thank you cards ever! She thanks the individual for the gift, mentions something unique about the gift, and usually always asks a question about the person (how was your Christmas, is it cold there, etc). I’m pretty proud of her 10 year old skills in thank you writing. I always make sure that I have her fully stocked in the stationary department. If you give kids the necessary tools it will make the job of writing thank you cards so much easier. Here is a cute pack of cards that would be perfect for her…

She likes them bright and colorful! But remember… Thank you Cards are not just for gifts. You can write them for other reasons too. How about a friend that has been listening to you go on and on about your problems? Or a super mom that always has all of the kids play at her house? Did someone bake you something yummy? Or how about you thank you husband for being such a great guy? There are tons of reasons to write thank you notes…pick one! I received a thank you note from one of my friends last week and it made my day! I still have it proudly displayed in my kitchen.
